Din vremea când Bucureştiul era socotit Micul Paris, ne-au rămas înregistrări inegalabile cu solişti ca Zavaidoc, Jean Moscopol, Cristian Vasile, Mia Braia, Titi Botez, Gion, Petre Alexandru, Dorel Livianu, Gică Petrescu etc. Compozitorii timpului au creat pentru ei melodii de neuitat.

Zavaidoc (Marin Teodorescu) s-a născut la Piteşti în 1896, fiind fiul unui cunoscut lăutar, Tănase Teodorescu. A cântat piese cu un deosebit succes la public, dovadă fiind şi faptul că repertoriul lui, atât cât a fost recuperat, este încă agreat şi solicitat de ascultători. Jean Moscopol s-a născut la Brăila şi apoi vine în Bucureşti unde, între anii 1925 şi 1928 şi se lansează în muzica uşoară. Face înregistrări la Casa de discuri “Columbia” şi devine membru al Societăţii Compozitorilor din România.

Şlagărele interpretate de Zavaidoc, Jean Moscopol şi alţii, încă îşi mai găsesc admiratori, chiar şi în zilele noastre, pentru că poartă în ele parfumul inconfundabil al acelor vremuri, povestea Bucureştilor de-altădată. Ele vorbesc despre oameni simpli, cu pasiuni clocotitoare, iar toate acestea într-o formă elegantă, romantică sau pasională. Iată deci că tot ce e bun, dăinuie. Nu pot fi trecute cu vederea toate acele cântece de neuitat din repertoriul şi creaţia lui Zavaidoc & Jean Moscopol pentru că şi astăzi, ele ne răscolesc amintirile, cu toată gama trăirilor şi sentimentelor invocate în minunatele texte, care acum par demodate, dar pline de poezie.
